Oh hey, 2009!

I could have been writing on this blog all of winter break since I didn't do much, but I suppose I wouldn't have had much material to write about!

My roommates and I have a joke about how I don't really set goals for myself because I'll feel bad when I don't meet them. But, I think for 2009 I feel good about setting goals for myself because I actually HAVE to meet them. Plus if I write them down on here, the goals become real. And my one blog follower, Roque, will know of them so she can keep me honest!

For example: goal no. 1 is finding a job for after graduation on May 9. I can't not find a job, so this is a good goal.

Goal no. 2 is to make more time for myself. As a single gal living the dream as a senior in college, it seems like this is a no-brainer. But actually, over the last year I have put myself last in my list of priorities. Last year I was taking 18 hours each semester, worked as the marketing director for the junior class project, worked for TCU News Now, interned in TCU Athletics communications, worked for the TCU Football department and as a student office assistant in residential services. I had NO time to go to the gym and I turned 21 so you can figure out what happened to my body :(

So, this year, compared to last is a cake-walk! I'm working 11 hours a week for my internship, 15 for TCU News Now and taking 16 hours of classes. I've been going to the gym just about every day and I feel better already. This is the last time in my life when I'll be able to be selfish and completely focused on myself, so I'm taking advantage of it! I want to cook more, sleep more, work out more and do what I want!

Goal no. 3 is to not get caught up in the stress that comes with being a college student. I've worked hard the last 8 years of my education and I am trying to let myself be more relaxed about my schoolwork this semester. If I can get some work done ahead of time (for me that's just staying on schedule) I won't be freaking out just before a deadline and staying up to write a paper into the wee hours of the morning.

Goal no. 4 is to have as much quality time with my friends this semester. I have a fun social life as it is, but I want to make sure I take advantage of opportunities to socialize this semester even if it means not sleeping as much or smelling like a bar. This is the last time in my life where all of my favorite friends are right around me all the time--I need to remember that!

Those are all of the goals I can think of for now...

This week is going to be a little busy but hopefully I'll have more posts to add.
